My week in food #4

Hi guys, I've been busy on the food front this week....AGAIN. Lots of eating out....AGAIN.
Here you go, enjoy...

Dumplings at Banana Tree Wardour street.

Banana Tree- Chicken wings. Perhaps up there with the best I have ever tasted. Sticky and sweet.

Banana Tree- Beef Rendang. I chose to have the added extra of the platter.

The Breakfast Club Soho- The all american. Pancakes, sausage, poached eggs, crispy bacon, fried potatoes and lots of syrup added on after.

The Breakfast Club- My smoothie on the right was Pommy granny (pomegranate, blueberries, raspberries, apple and ginger.)

Fire and Stone- Mixed sharing board. Cured ham, fennel salami, arancini, parmesan flatbread strips, houmous, marinated olives and tomato salsa.

Fire and Stone- Calamari, my favourite.

Fire and Stone- Marrakech. Spiced minced lamb, slow roasted red peppers, red onions, mozzarella, tzatziki and fresh mint.

Hope you enjoyed :) don't forget to follow me to keep up with my weekly food diary x

Lunch time. Roux at the Landau

Hi guys. I'm getting good at this ,more than one post a week thing' aren't I? haha.

So the other week me and my sister took my mum out for a special birthday lunch, and our place of choice was  Roux at the Landau. We knew our mum loved the Roux family of chefs, so were really excited for it.
We arrived for a 2pm lunch and were greeted at the reception with a lovely smile and our coats were taken.

I have to say when I stepped into the dining room my jaw dropped. It was simply elegant and everything was shiny, gold and classicly beautiful. After shown to our spacious table we drank our glass of champagne and scoured through the set menu. The waiters were polite and nothing about the atmosphere was pretentious or awkward.
After our orders were taken, some pre-starter nibbles arrived at the table and the feast had begun....

The dining room

A late lunch- almost had the dining room to ourselves.

Champagne time.

The set menu.
The amuse bouche- cheese bites.

My starter- 'Pressed potato and  fine herb ballontine with smoked duck and truffle dressing' this starter was lovely and light but heavy in flavour. The right amount of each element.
The main- 'Roast seabass, grilled aubergine puree and saffron cracked wheat'.  The seabass was cooked beautifully, it was lovely and soft. This was the first time I had tasted wheat like this and its safe to say the plate was clean by the time I was finished with it.
Dessert time- 'Light white chocolate and coconut pannacotta with mango and lime'. Possibly one of the best desserts I have ever tasted. It was a cold, rainy London day so this definitely gave me a taste of summer.

Roses- Pretty table decorations.
Outside.

Overall it was a great experience and a really tasty meal. I would highly recommend it as an occasion lunch or just to go and spoil yourself.

Have you ever been? And If you have what did you eat?

Hope you enjoyed the blog post guys. I'm going to be posting a lot more now.
See you next time x

My tasty homemade coleslaw recipe

Hi guys as promised my foody Milan blog is coming up next but for the mean time here's my tasty coleslaw recipe. It's healthy, hearty and definitely made me feel brighter on this cold snowy April day.
You can add any raw vegetable of your choice to the recipe, like carrot which is a classic.
So here it is:

1/2 a cabbage
1 red onion
A handful of peas
A pinch of salt and Pepper
A squeeze of Mayonaise
A squeeze of lemon

There is no method to this. Just chop, squeeze, mix and enjoy.

My Long weekend in Milan

I whisked my boyfriend away for a surprise birthday weekend and the the city of choice was Milan.
We had never been before so we were both excited to explore the history, culture and of course FOOD.

The hotel we stayed at was the Melia Milano, just a few metro stops from the center (Duomo, Cardorna).

My favourite place had to be the Duomo cathedral, it was so beautiful inside and out. The architecture was honestly mind boggling. It was made out of marble and covered with hundreds of statues and stories. There is also a chance to walk on top of the roof, giving you amazing views of Milan.

Here are some snaps from my travels and keep reading till the end as I've got some handy Milan tips.
My Milan food post will follow this one. Enjoy :

The Duomo. Just amazing.

Some of the many beautiful statues on the Duomo

My first sight of it.

The main square view from on top of the Duomo cathedral- A beautiful walk.

Another gorgeous view.

Another view point.

The Navigili district. Great restaurants and bars.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II- Prada central

Arco della Pace- Similar to that of Marble Arch and Arc De Triomphe

Pinacoteca Di Brera/ Brera Picture Gallery

Castello Sforzesco- A tiny part of it. Full of museums and galleries

My Top Tips:
- Don't be afraid to take a wonder through the small streets, there is always a cathedral you'l stumble upon.
- Don't wait in the hour long queue for the Duomo roof. There is a small tourists shop across the street (at the back of the cathedral). You can jump the queue by buying your ticket from there.
- Buy a 2 or 3 day metro travel pass (if you're there for the weekend), this will save you a lot of money.
- A lot of the bars do happy hours on the weekend. You pay 6-9 euros for a all you can eat buffet and alcoholic drink of your choice. Cheap, cheerful and makes a great start to your night
