My Long weekend in Milan

I whisked my boyfriend away for a surprise birthday weekend and the the city of choice was Milan.
We had never been before so we were both excited to explore the history, culture and of course FOOD.

The hotel we stayed at was the Melia Milano, just a few metro stops from the center (Duomo, Cardorna).

My favourite place had to be the Duomo cathedral, it was so beautiful inside and out. The architecture was honestly mind boggling. It was made out of marble and covered with hundreds of statues and stories. There is also a chance to walk on top of the roof, giving you amazing views of Milan.

Here are some snaps from my travels and keep reading till the end as I've got some handy Milan tips.
My Milan food post will follow this one. Enjoy :

The Duomo. Just amazing.

Some of the many beautiful statues on the Duomo

My first sight of it.

The main square view from on top of the Duomo cathedral- A beautiful walk.

Another gorgeous view.

Another view point.

The Navigili district. Great restaurants and bars.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II- Prada central

Arco della Pace- Similar to that of Marble Arch and Arc De Triomphe

Pinacoteca Di Brera/ Brera Picture Gallery

Castello Sforzesco- A tiny part of it. Full of museums and galleries

My Top Tips:
- Don't be afraid to take a wonder through the small streets, there is always a cathedral you'l stumble upon.
- Don't wait in the hour long queue for the Duomo roof. There is a small tourists shop across the street (at the back of the cathedral). You can jump the queue by buying your ticket from there.
- Buy a 2 or 3 day metro travel pass (if you're there for the weekend), this will save you a lot of money.
- A lot of the bars do happy hours on the weekend. You pay 6-9 euros for a all you can eat buffet and alcoholic drink of your choice. Cheap, cheerful and makes a great start to your night
